Remapping Guide...
line
We have created some very useful information guides about Engine Remapping and Chip Tuning.

These guides are here to try to help to give you a better understanding of all the vehicle engine services we can offer you include ECU Remapping, OBD Remapping, Chip Tuning and Diesel Tuning.

Please select a category from bellow to read more about what the service is, what we do for your car and how it can improve your vehicles performance.

ECU Remapping Guide: In this ecu guide you will find out what ecu remapping is, how we remap your euc and why you should have your ecu remapped. On top of this you will find some helpful stats and extra information to better help you understand what ecu remapping is.

ECU Remapping basically means to fine tune your cars software programe that controls the Engine Management System which is known as the Engine Control Unit.

The modern engines of today heavily rely on a computer controlled engine management system. So basically an engine uses sensors to monitor most of what your car is doing such as; throttle position, airflow, crank position and much more. The ECU (Engine Control Unit) is then sent this information to processe which will give top performance for any driving condition.

Why remap my ECU?

Manufacturers have adopted the 'one map fits all policy' for their world wide vehicle distribution. Within this one map they need to account for necessary factors in each export country which will be alot different. The manufacturers have to consider many things such as emissions, climate, weather and even the quality of fuel. This means that no factury ECU is never produced and optimised for a single country or environment.

How can Go Greener Uk help?

What we do is to first read your engines map file, we then have to modify the file to best suite you and your car then upload it back on to your ECU. For this to be done correctly we will need you to tell us your individual requirements and what it is you would like from your vehicles remap. ECU Remapping makes it easy to give your cars engine extra power and torque without issues of reliability. Reports of owners seeing fuel economy improvements once this engine remapping is done are often. Although lots of customers see improved fuel economy you should be aware that this will all depend on how you drive like your driving style and how heavy you are on the right foot.

ECU Remapping increases the power and torque to provide a much smoother drive. Throughout your rev range you get increased flexibility which allows smoother acceleration and ease for better overtaking power.

Imitation Cheaping Beware!

You should be aware that some companies today offer what looks like a nice cheap value ECU remap service. But most companies like this are using stock maps which are NOT custom to your cars requirements and have more then likely been got cheap online. Due to this they could be for any car not specificly for yours which could damage your engine.

A full engine diagnostics check should be done before ECU remapping is carried out, this should show us and potential problems and/or parts that may need replacing. ECU remapping will not caouse any type of failure but it can speed up any already failing components which you should be aware of.

What are the expected improvements?

You will see improvements in both the engines power and torque all the way through your rev range. Fuel economy improvements are also a possibility but this will depend on your driving systems. We have a list for different engine types average improvements below.

Petrol (non-turbo)

By remapping a normally aspirated engine ECU, we would normally expect to see a 10 - 15% increase in power (bhp) depending on your exact engine specification, and around a 15 - 20% increase in torque (Nm) throughout the rev range.  This improves engine response on a lighter throttle.

Petrol (turbo)

By installing a modified engine ECU map on to a turbo engine we would normally expect to achieve around a 20 - 30% increase in power (bhp), with an increase in torque of around 20 - 40% depending on your engine specification.  The large increases in both power and torque will greatly improve theengine flexibility in all gears and throughout the rev range.

Diesel (turbo)

Remapping a diesel turbo ECU normally sees the greatest gains of any engine type.  Typically we will achieve an increase of 25 - 50% power (bhp) and around a 50 - 75% increase in torque depending on your engine specification.  The engine response is greatly improved throughout the whole rev range and in all gears.  Diesel engines are well known for providing huge amounts of torque and in gear performance.  A remapped modern turbo diesel engine has the ability to embarrass many petrol engined cars under normal driving conditions.
